Production on the first Armoured Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV) has begun in London, Ontario at the General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada manufacturing facilities. These new vehicles will fulfill a variety of combat support roles such as that of Troop/Cargo Vehicle (TCV), ambulance, command post, and mobile repair and recovery.

From July 23 to 31, 2020, the CAF delivered more than 82,500 kg of vital COVID-19 related supplies to Honduras, Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Guatemala, and Barbados. Air Detachment-Panama – composed of one CC-177 Globemaster III, crew, and logistics support personnel – operated out of Panamá Pacífico International Airport approximately 40 hours in the air completing these important deliveries across the region. By working closely with regional partners, the CAF members deployed on Operation GLOBE were able to deliver critical humanitarian supplies on behalf of the World Food Programme and World Health Organization, as requested by the UN.

The RCN marked the most significant milestone in its shipbuilding program with the delivery of the first new Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS). Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Harry DeWolf, the first of a class of six, is named in honour of Vice-Admiral Harry DeWolf, a Canadian wartime naval hero. The HMCS Harry DeWolf is the first ship built for the RCN under the National Shipbuilding Strategy.

Viking Air Limited of Victoria, British Columbia and the Fuerza Aerea del Peru (FAP) have renewed their comprehensive Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft support contract originally initiated in 2016 for a further five years under Viking’s Maintenance Plus (M+) Program. The FAP operates twelve Series 400 Twin Otters that provide civil protection, environmental monitoring, critical infrastructure support and emergency medevac services in the remote Amazonian regions of northeast Peru.

He also thanked him for his many years of service to Canadians and congratulated him on his upcoming retirement from the Canadian Armed Forces.

L3Harris Technologies has completed delivery of its 5,000th WESCAM MX-Series imaging system since launching the product line in 1997. The milestone was recently celebrated when a WESCAM MX-20 turret was delivered to the U.S. Navy for deployment on its P-8A maritime patrol aircraft.

Defence Minister Harjit S. Sajjan highlighted the importance of the recent contract award for the full construction of Canada’s two new Joint Support Ships (JSS) to both the RCN and to the Canadian economy at an event on Monday July 20th at Seaspan’s Vancouver Shipyards. Valued at $2.4 billion (including taxes), this contract supports the ongoing construction of the ship’s early blocks, which began in June 2018, as well as construction of the newly designed blocks for the remainder of the ships.

ADGA has announced the addition of Lieutenant-General (ret’d) Jean-Marc Lanthier CMM, MSM, CD, to the ADGA Strategic Advisory Council. Lieutenant-General (ret’d) Lanthier recently retired after a distinguished career in the Canadian Forces, culminating in his appointment as Vice Chief of the Defence Staff.

Kaycom will continue to provide repair and overhaul support services to the Canadian Military for its Dehydrator systems. The system in question (NEPS 1000 Advantage Dual Voltage) was designed around the Canadian Military’s demanding needs to desiccate optical fire control systems on base situation/field maintenance as well as in theater where normal 120-volt power is hard to acquire.

Two GE LM2500 marine gas turbines now power the HMAS Sydney (Destroyer - DDG) which was recently commissioned by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). This is the first commissioning of an Australian warship at sea since the Second World War.
