Bill Blair introduced legislation to amend the National Defence Act that proposes a suite of targeted changes to modernize the military justice system. The proposed amendments address key recommendations made in independent and external reviews conducted by former Supreme Court Justices Louise Arbour and Morris J. Fish.

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), in cooperation with the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), conducted a series of tests on GA-ASI’s Sonobuoy Dispensing System (SDS) using the MQ-9B SeaGuardian^® Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) on the U.S. Navy’s W-291 test range in southern California.

OSI announced that it has been awarded a contract by the US Amphibious Assault and Connectors Program Office (PMS 317), to provide a Ship-to-Shore Connector Program Wide License (SSC PWL) for the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) and Landing Craft Utility (LCU) programs.

Currently over 300 landmarks in 20 countries are confirmed to be participating in the illumination campaign. In Canada, this includes the CN Tower, Montréal Tower, Calgary Tower, Vancouver Sails of Light, Esplanade Riel, and Niagara Falls. In the coming weeks, more landmarks and countries are expected to join the illumination campaign.

This agreement has been in place since 2003, and it has delivered quality health care to Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members in the National Capital Region (NCR). Through the agreement, both Canadian Forces Health Services Centre Ottawa and 1 Dental Unit Detachment Ottawa operate in Hôpital Montfort’s Wing D.

The U.S. Marine Corps awarded Mack Defense a 12-month contract for the initial development of a new Medium Tactical Truck (MTT) fleet. The new family of vehicles will replace the Marine Corp’s Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement fleet (MTVR), which includes cargo, dump, wrecker, tractor and re-supply trucks supporting air-ground task force combat support missions.

This mutual commitment, known as Ontatenses in Huron-Wendat, meaning “We value each other,” has been developed in mutual trust since 2018.

Genaire Limited announced its recent success in securing a Contract awarded by the Government of Canada for the manufacture of the SK338 Cargo Pallet. This is an entirely Genaire Limited designed and manufactured pallet with an light weight all aluminum core.  The SK338 was designed as a replacement for the HCU-6/E pallet for use in C-130 Hercules aircraft. 

Minister Blair announced an investment of $850 million to upgrade CFB Trenton, so that it can host Canada’s new fleet of CC-330 Husky Strategic Tanker Transport Aircraft. These upgrades will enable CFB Trenton to serve as the Eastern Main Operating Base for the new CC-330 Husky fleet.

To further develop Ukraine’s drone capabilities, Minister Blair committed to Canada joining the Ukraine Defense Contact Group’s Drone Capability Coalition, co-led by Latvia and the United Kingdom. As a member of the Capability Coalition, Canada will continue to look for ways to boost Ukraine’s drone capabilities.

Arcfield Canada Corp. has been awarded the CF-18 Avionics In-Service Support program by the DND. The award, which represents follow-on work for the company, has a firm 5-year period of performance and a total contract value of up to $211.6 million CAD.

CBC's report on the CAF's readiness sparked discussions at the Ottawa Conference on Security and Defense. Minister Bill Blair hinted at a forthcoming Defence Policy Update, while insights from Ukraine and strategies to fortify NATO emphasized the urgency for collective action.

Astrolight, a pioneering technology company dedicated to facilitating space-to-Earth and ship-to-ship laser communications, has joined the Defense Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA), which will advance its dual-use laser communication technology in the defense sector. The focus will be on facilitating tactical communication between navy ships. The company plans to develop a product for optical communication between ships so that they can communicate without using conventional radio systems.
