Magellan has been awarded contract valued at CDN $48 million, from the Canadian government to perform the licensed manufacture of LUU-2 illumination flares for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). Magellan-produced LUU-2 illumination flares will be delivered from the Winnipeg facility's propellant plant in Manitoba, Canada. The term of the contracts is five years.

The Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) ISS contract was awarded to Rheinmetall Canada for a value of $57.49M. This supports ISTAR components and software that ensure data exchanges occur seamlessly from “sensing” and intelligence-gathering equipment such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or ground radars to the Land Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (LC4ISR) system.

Her Majesty’s Canadian Ships (HMCS) Kingston and Shawinigan, both Maritime Coastal Defence Vessels (MCDVs), are set to arrive in West Africa on 23 February. The Brazilian Navy has ordered three H135 light twin-engine helicopters to be operated by the 1st General Purpose Helicopter Squadron (HU-1). The aircraft will be dedicated to a wide range of missions such as special operations, transport of troops and freight, naval inspection, search and rescue and medical evacuation.

Ultra Electronics Maritime Systems has signed a significant sub-contract with Lockheed Martin Canada as part of Canada’s Combat Ship Team, selected as the winning bid for the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) program by Irving Shipbuilding. Irving Shipbuilding is the Canadian Surface Combatant Prime Contractor and will build all 15 ships at Halifax Shipyard.
