Alberta-based Landing Zones Unveils the World’s First Drone-Launched Training Bomblet at IITSEC

Landing Zones Canada Inc. proudly introduces the world's first drone-launched training bomblet pyrotechnic, a cutting-edge patented innovation precisely developed to fully replicate the drone threats encountered on today's battlefields.

Threat Replication Excellence

In a historic breakthrough, Landing Zones achieves an important milestone for today’s advanced military readiness needs with the launch of its innovative pyrotechnic training device. This patented pioneering development, called the Drone Bomblet Pyrotechnic© (DBP©), underscores the company's dedication to pushing the boundaries of technological advancement in the training and simulation fields.

Spencer Fraser, Founder and CEO of Landing Zones, highlights that “We are all now seeing a variety of grenades, mortar rounds, RPG warheads, as well as a myriad of other explosives, being routinely dropped from drones achieving significant tactical effect… It is well understood that there is an urgent operational requirement to train against this ubiquitous threat.”  Fraser adds that “in keeping with the mantra of train as you fight, we purposely set out to develop a highly threat representative training solution for widescale adoption by land forces”.

Safety, Our Top Priority

Fraser passionately emphasizes the paramount importance of safety in this ground-breaking venture. As the architect behind this transformative battlefield training product, Fraser highlights the extensive human factors research that was undertaken to ensure that safety remained at the forefront of every aspect of the development of this; the world's first drone-launched training pyrotechnic. “As any senior military leader will tell you, all live training systems have to be inherently safe”.

Shaping the Future of Training

The innovative DBP© not only represents a major step forward in replicating contemporary battlefield threats but also showcases Landing Zones’ commitment to reshaping the landscape of training methodologies. Fraser believes that this pioneering product will “set a new standard for safety-assured, cutting-edge, and threat realistic training tools for the worldwide military training and simulation industry”. While the DBP© is platform agnostic and can be carried on a variety of different drones, Landing Zones is already working with several leading drone OEMs such as Lockheed Martin and Fixar and welcomes other collaborations.
