IAI and MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) as prime contractors, were recently awarded a contract to deliver IAI’s Heron UAV through MDA to Canadian forces deployed in Afghanistan (NOCTUA project). According to publications the contract is valued at 95 million CAD. |

Patria of Finland recently flew CMC Electronics’ Cockpit 4000 integrated avionics suite on the Hawk Mk51 trainer aircraft from Halli Airfield, Finland. CMC’s avionics suite performed successfully during the one hour and forty minute first flight, which was flown by two Finnish Air Force test pilots. In February 2007, CMC Electronics announced that its Cockpit 4000 glass cockpit avionics had been selected by Patria for their upgrade of fifteen BAE Systems Hawk trainers for the Finnish Air Force. |

Ampex Data Systems Corporation announced a contract award for Ampex to supply L-3 WESCAM with its rugged, High-Definition Airborne Recorder systems as part of the Interoperable Griffon Reconnaissance Escort Surveillance System (INGRESS) program for the Canadian Forces Griffon CH-146 helicopter. |

A CT-114 Tutor aircraft from 431 (Air Demonstration) Squadron crashed 2.5 km North West of the base during a formation photo flight. Two Canadian Forces members from 15 Wing Moose Jaw died in the crash. The fallen airmen are Captain Bryan “Mav” Mitchell, 46, and Sergeant Charles “Chuck” Senecal, 49. |

The contract was awarded by Thales UK which leads the CVF Power and Propulsion Sub-Alliance that includes L-3 Marine Systems, UK. |

L-3 Communication Systems-West has announced that it has begun delivering 30 Remote Operated Video Enhanced Receiver (ROVER) 4 systems to MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) in support of Canada’s NOCTUA Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Program. It was a requirement for the NOCTUA UAV data link to be interoperable with ROVER 4 since over 4000 ROVERs are fielded. |
