BOEING SUPPORTS AIR FORCE'S MUSEUM IN TRENTON

The National Air Force Museum of Canada recently announced the official opening of the Centennial of Flight Display entitled: “From the Burgess-Dunne to the Globemaster III”. The announcement coincides with The Boeing Company’s $125,000 donation to the RCAF Memorial Foundation to assist the NAFMC’s expansion program.

The new display celebrates advances in aviation technology over the past 100 years and highlights the renowned history and heritage of Canada’s Air Force. In addition to the 100th Anniversary of Powered Flight in Canada, the aviation community is also celebrating the 85th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force and the 25th Anniversary of the National Air Force Museum of Canada.

Bell Helicopter in Quebec - To supply 407 Helicopter for Iraqi Air Force

Bell Helicopter, a Textron has announced that the U.S. Army awarded the company a $60.3 million contract for 24 of its Model 407 helicopters, which the Army will provide to the Iraqi Air Force as part of a planned Foreign Military Sale to Iraq.
The Iraqi Ministry of Defense has selected the Bell Model 407 as the basis for a new Iraqi Air Force armed scout helicopter. Initial aircraft deliveries to the U.S. Army are expected to begin later this year. The 24 Model 407 helicopters, built at Bell's commercial aircraft manufacturing facility in Mirabel, Canada, will be militarized by the U.S. Army to meet Iraqi Air Force requirements.

CAE awarded C$329.5 million contract

The Government of Canada has awarded CAE a contract valued at approximately C$ 329.5 million for a comprehensive C-130J aircrew training equipment and services solution. CAE leads a pan-Canadian team that includes xwave, St. Johns, Newfoundland; Bombardier, Saint-Laurent, Quebec; Atlantis Systems International, Brampton, Ontario; and Cascade Aerospace, Abbotsford, British-Columbia.

GDLS Canada awarded $27.2 million contract

General Dynamics Land Systems – Canada has been awarded, by the Marine Corps Systems Command, a $27.2 million contract modification for spare parts in support of RG-31 Mk5E vehicles under the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) program.

L-3 's to close Spar operation in Edmonton

L-3 Communications Corp. said it will close its Spar Aerospace aircraft maintenance facility in Edmonton.

The closure of the facility, which L-3 acquired as part of the 2002 purchase of Spar Aerospace Ltd., comes three years after the company lost a contract to maintain the Canadian Armed Forces' CC-130 Hercules aircraft.

Navistar wins MiLCOTS contract to supply trucks

Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence and Minister of the Atlantic Gateway, together with the Josée Verner, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, recently announced the contract award for the Canadian Forces’ new medium-sized logistic trucks. Under the contract, the Canadian Forces will be receiving 1300 Militarized Commercial Off-the-Shelf (MilCOTS) vehicles. Navistar Defence LLC will supply commercial off the shelf trucks as part of the $274 million contract.
