The Government of Canada has awarded a contract of approximately $40.5 million to Pomerleau Inc., of Ottawa for the construction of the Air Mobility Training Centre (AMTC) at 8 Wing Trenton. This contract award brings economic benefits to the region, generating direct employment opportunities over the course of this work.
"Awarding this contract is evidence of the Government's commitment to providing the Canadian Forces with the infrastructure required to maintain a first-class modern military," said the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence and Minister for the Atlantic Gateway. "This new facility will provide excellent training conditions and long-term support for military personnel at 8 Wing Trenton."
L-3 WESCAM has been selected by Boeing to supply fifteen digital electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) imaging sensors for the Canadian Medium-Heavy Lift Helicopter program. The MX-15 EO/IR imaging turrets will be delivered to Boeing between 2011 and 2014, and will be installed on the Canadian Forces' newly acquired Chinook Helicopters.

"The Canadian Forces will depend on our leading EO/IR technology for this program, as they do for the CP-140 Aurora and INGRESS programs."
The Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces will participate in the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

The Canadian Forces will also participate in the Flame Arrival ceremony in Canada on October 30, including a 50-member uard of honour, a bag piper at the 443 Squadron Hangar at Victoria International Airport, and an over-flight of four CF-18 aircraft over the B.C. Legislature in Victoria.
Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services, Inc., based in Vancouver, B.C., has been awarded a subcontract from Army Fleet Support at Fort Rucker, Alabama in support of the United States Army TH-67 (Bell 206) Flying Hour Program.
This subcontract includes the plastic media strip, aircraft inspection and painting of twenty-five TH-67 helicopters operating out of the Fort Rucker Army Airfield. As an add-on Vector will also complete aircraft structural overhauls on two heavily damaged TH-67 helicopters; all of which will be carried out at Vector’s Andalusia, Alabama repair and overhaul facility. This facility is a Bell Helicopter-approved repair and overhaul center.

Lockheed Martin Canada has selected Raytheon Anschütz ,a subsidiary of the Raytheon Company (Waltham, MA), as prime contractor to supply navigational radars for the mid-life upgrade of the Canadian Navy’s Halifax-Class Frigates.
Under the contract, Raytheon Anschütz will install the latest version of its NSC radars on board the Frigates. The delivery is scheduled from 2010 to 2015 to Canadian shipyards in Halifax and Victoria.
HMCS Fredericton departed on October 25th for a six-month mission to the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean as part of ongoing efforts to provide maritime security abroad.
The ship will be integrated into Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 (SNMG1) and will be focused on counter-piracy. The NATO maritime group is a multinational, integrated maritime force consisting of vessels from various NATO nations that train and operate together as a single team.
As well, Fredericton will contribute to Combined Task Force 150 as part of the campaign against terrorism. The Canadian Forces maritime contribution is referred to as Operation SAIPH. The Task Force is also a multinational coalition fleet conducting maritime security operations in and around the Persian Gulf, the northern Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Oman, the Gulf of Aden, and parts of the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea.
CAE has been awarded over the past two months a series of military contracts valued at more than C$75 million. Included in this total are a number of defence and professional services contracts to support military and homeland security programs in Canada and the United Kingdom as well as a range of other military products and services contracts.
