2011 Canada Army Run 72% Sold Out
The fourth annual Canada Army Run, the fastest growing running event in Canada, will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2011. The run benefits Soldier On and the Military Families Fund.
This year’s theme is “No ordinary runners. No ordinary race”. It reinforces two important aspects of the run: one - that people run, walk or roll in Canada Army Run for many different reasons; and two -that Canada Army Run is unique and unlike any other running event in the country.
To date, more than 9,000 people have signed up for this year’s Canada Army Run.
“Registration is way ahead of where it was last year at this time and the half marathon is already more than 72% sold out,” says Run Director Major Luc Frenette. “If growth over the last three years is any indication, we will reach our maximum capacity of 15,000 before event day, and will have to start turning people away.”
“Without a doubt, this is still the fastest growing run in Canada,” says John Halvorsen, president of Run Ottawa, the official race organizers of Canada Army Run and Ottawa Race Weekend. “Word is spreading that this is a great event and unlike anything else in the country. I don’t think there’s any doubt it will reach its cap of 15,000 before event day.”
Organizers are advising those interested in participating to register early to secure a spot in either the 5K or half marathon events.
